Looking into a 1930s dream house

We take a look at Carola's (@plumandplay) cosy family house in Utrecht, where she lives with her husband and three children. She describes her interior as minimalist and Scandinavian, enriched with warm tones.

Who @plumandplay?

Carola is the face behind the interior account @plumandplay, where her Scandinavian interior with warmth tones can be admired. Besides product photography and giving interior advice through her own company Plum & Play, Carola also works as a self-employed person on other projects such as marketing management for beauty start-ups. Besides her passion for interior design, Carola loves to cook. Her spacious kitchen offers plenty of opportunities for this.

From construction house to dream house

Carola and her family have been living in their dream house for seven years. After the sale, everything was taken in own hand, from a new cast floor to an extension of the kitchen. This renovation offered the chance to fully decorate the house to their own taste: Scandinavian with warm tones. It is untill this year that the house has really been feeling like a cohesive whole.

Lounge sofa Kiva

Carola discovered By SIDDE via Instagram and ordered fabric samples of the Kiva to compare the different shades of the sofa. After doubting for a long time about the different colours, she made her choice. The Sofa Kiva in the colour Dove Tale turned out to be the perfect match for her warm Scandinavian interior. The Kiva provides a nice contrast to the more robust furniture in the house and gives the room an ethereal feeling.

‘The Kiva is ideal, even our robot cleaner can get under the sofa! Haha’

Inspiration & favourite items

She gets her inspiration for warm Scandinavian interiors mainly from Instagram, Pinterest and interior design magazines. She also likes to visit second-hand shops. This is not only sustainable, but also makes for an original interior. Besides the beloved vintage items, the sofa Kiva has become the new favourite item in the living room.

Tips from Carola

The most important tip: get lots of inspiration and keep everything that appeals. Start with a mood board to collect your wishes and ideas. You can take this mood board with you each time you look for new additions.

‘Take your time, think calmly and don't make any rush decisions’
