Binnenkijken in een oase van rust

Take a peek inside an oasis of calm interior

In a quiet new-build neighborhood, bordering open fields, stands a serene home where calm and creativity come together. For over twenty years, this has been the warm and welcoming place for Monique and her family, along with their two cats. Let’s take a peek behind the front door.

From hobby to business

What once started as sharing small moments, ideas, and creations on Instagram has now grown into something much bigger. Together with her husband, who has also discovered the fun of social media they are running now Studio BST. She loves creating and inspiring, while he is the technical rock she can always rely on. Whatever she dreams up, he can make. A perfect team!

Calm Foundation, Bold Contrast

Monique describes her own interior style as Nordic Japandi with a warm, minimalist touch. Light beige tones, wood, and natural materials form the foundation of her home. Black accents add just the right amount of contrast.

"A calm home creates a calm mind."

Her choice for the light beige version of the Zev modular sofa was an easy one. With the airy design and low profile, the sofa feels spacious and serene. Perfect combination with the open bright layout of the room.

Playful, Stylish, and Flexible

Sitting still is not an option for Monique— there’s always a creative project underway in her home. The sofa Zev fits perfectly: with its loose modular elements, the layout changes effortlessly, from a corner sofa to a U-shape and back again.

"I could spend hours moving things around and restyling."

Accessories on Rotation

Accessories change regularly. Shades like soft brown or terracotta come to life in autumn, while in summer the look stays light and airy. Still, the foundation remains true to calm, neutral tones.

"I admire colorful interiors, but they don’t give me peace."

Tips for a Personal Interior

Monique designs her home mostly by instinct. She follows trends, but never copies them blindly.

"Be inspired, but don’t imitate."

A few of Monique’s tips:

  • Dare to think big.

A generous sofa can actually make a smaller space feel larger.

  • Follow the light.

Observe the room at different times of day before making your decision.

  • Use a rug as a unifying element.

Swap it out with the seasons.

  • Accessories are perfect for changing color and mood.

Not happy? They’re easy to replace.

  • Don’t just focus on what looks good in someone else’s home.

Let your own sense of style guide you.

Always in Motion

Monique’s favorite spot at home is the lounge area of the sofa. It invites you to relax, read, or binge-watch your favorite shows. Here, everything comes together: style, comfort, and calm. And that’s exactly what this home is all about. Never completely finished, always evolving, but always in balance.
