6 must-haves for the seating area
The sofa
The sofa is, of course, the most important part of the seating area. What shape fits the room best? If your living room is compact, go for 1 sofa. This could be a spacious, straight sofa or a corner sofa. Preferably, do not put up a sofa or individual armchairs. For extra seating, consider an easily movable ottoman in the same style as the sofa. This will create calm. If the room is large, make generous gestures. A large room requires large furniture. Think big!
Art on the wall
What do we put on the wall? Art gives your living room character. It makes the space more personal. It does not have to be an expensive or large work of art. There are all kinds of websites where you can order nice posters. With a nice frame around it, it is beautiful to look at. Give the frame a pop of colour for extra effect. Or take a look through your digital photos. Maybe there is one among them that can be beautifully enlarged on a canvas, or on wood or aluminium. Prefer a unique painting on the wall by an artist? Then the Art Loan could be for you.

Reading lamp
It's great to snuggle up in a corner of the sofa with a book on your lap. Good light is important then. A reading lamp is the answer. You can easily adjust the light. And if you are not reading, you can usually dim the lamp to create a cosier ambient light. Will it be a wall-mounted reading lamp or do you prefer a floor model?
Decorative cushions
Decorative cushions, you love them, or you hate them. Either way, a few cushions in the sofa can give just that finishing touch. And they are functional. Because we all lie on the couch quite often and a soft cushion in the neck is nice. Vary in sizes, materials and colours. A good tip is to repeat the colours from the artwork on the wall in the cushions. This brings unity and calm to your seating area.

Coffee table
The coffee table is super practical but can also be a stand in the way. They used to not move from their place and the size was especially large. Nowadays, we prefer some smaller sizes that are easy to move around. Wood or metal or a combination of these 2 materials. Or give the coffee table a personal touch and pimp a 2nd hand one. Like this table from marktplaats that we treated with concrete ciré. Beautiful and durable at the same time.
Rug
A rug connects. It makes all the loose items in the room come together, a kind of island. The size of the rug is a matter of taste. If you want the sofa to stand on the rug, size 200x300cm is a fairly continuous size. Prefer some air between the sofa and the rug? Then size 160x230cm is a great option.
